…/…

In all traditions and cultures around the globe, there is a particular emphasis to mark and differentiate the seasons. Some celebrate openly with festivals and others with fashion by prescribing certain colors to accompany the change and to get the impulse of the particular season.

In TCM the late summer season is governed by the spleen and stomach, where all our food is processed and transformed into nourishment for the body. Did you know that you could balance and help your digestive system to cope with all the changes in food and weather.? According to TCM, the spleen transforms and transports food into qi and into the blood respectively; it governs the muscles, hold blood in the vessels; governs thought and concentration. The mouth and lips are Earth’s sense organs and are the vital sign of a healthy spleen and digestion.

The summer month with it’s pick of energy and activity helped us keep up with the long days and light so that we can do more, and now we must slow down and gather our energy to heal in rest, and to open up a window for going inward and reflect. This is the time for grounding, and  giving your spleen all it needs to process all the food and information that comes to it. The spleen is known in TCM for having the power to give us intention. The intention is the first step in every qi-gong flow. We first set our intention to open up our senses to transformation. If we are overthinking and constantly feeding, there will be no room for transformation, and the body can become stagnated. The food won’t be properly processed and the digestive system itself becomes sluggish and bloated with a myriad of symptoms like gas, indigestion, fatigue, lethargy, dampness, worry and overthinking. The most dangerous is dampness because the body can’t get rid so easy of the extra water in the system and the food can’t be process properly; therefore, it is important to have a functioning happy digestive system for health, healing, and balance. It takes 3 weeks to make a change and very little of your time.

Make the few changes into a ritual for a few minutes everyday to care for your digestive system. Late Summer

Finales deVerano

…/…
